Hi! Thanks for stopping by! If you haven't already, go on over to the 'About' section to learn a little (a very small amount) about me and to see some pretty pictures taken by me and my lovely friends.
Great! Now that you still know pretty much nothing about me, I'll go ahead and explain why I've decided to start my very own blog. It's really pretty simple:
In all seriousness, those are all very real reasons but the actual reason behind this blog is my decision to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail in 2014. I have been planning this journey for as long as I have been thinking about it. In my research I have read many other thru-hiker's blogs and trail journals and cannot reiterate how valuable they have been. From gear lists, to trail food, to ghetto ramen noodle recipes, to gear reviews, to personal insight from both successful thru-hikers and some who didn't make it all the way; there is something valuable in each and every online journal/blog I have come across. I hope that my blog will be of some help to anyone contemplating or planning a future thru-hike of their own. At the very least it should provide some sort of comic relief...
The other reason for this blog is my family. Two (2!) people in my entire family are on Facebook, neither of them being my parents. I need an outlet to document my journey that is accessible to them as well as the rest of my non Facebook family (and my non Facebook friends).
I plan on starting my thru-hike from Springer Mountain in Georgia at the end of March. Until then, I will be posting about my preparations (gear lists, anxious thoughts, oh-shit moments, fears, panic attacks) for my thru-hike as well as my normal weekly hiking adventures. I have two big goals for this winter:
So that's all I have for now. My next post will include a step-by-step guide on how to break the news of your thru-hike to your boyfriend (or girlfriend), parents, and boss!
Thanks for reading!

- I like to hike.
- I love to take pictures while I hike.
- I like to write
- I like to write about hiking

I have two big goals for this winter:
- Finish my Winter NH 48. I have 38 left to go. That's a lot of mountains to climb before the calendar winter ends. I will need Mother Nature's cooperation on this one.
- Complete a Winter Presidential Traverse.
So that's all I have for now. My next post will include a step-by-step guide on how to break the news of your thru-hike to your boyfriend (or girlfriend), parents, and boss!
